Birthdays

I've been fortunate enough to start my birthday early this year. I have already had my all time favourite birthday dessert, which has been a tradition in our family for 15 years. It's amazing that something so simple could still be such a hit after all these years. It's my weakness - Dirt Cake. For those who have no idea what in the world this delicious guilty pleasure is, check it out here:  http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,196,150160-224197,00.html

I also got to go away for the weekend with my mom. We decided to take off to Victor, NY to do some shopping and spend some one on one time together. Saturday morning we were on the road by 7 am for a leisurely drive to Fort Erie to head into the USA.

We decided to go to the Waterloo Premium Outlets before heading to Victor where our hotel was located. The outlets were all outdoors which was great to get some exercise while shopping. We found some really neat stores, including a kitchen store that sold everything and anything to do with entertaining as well as cooking and baking supplies. I found a great BBQ sauce which has Dr. Pepper in it. I could resist. I will definitely be using it this summer with all of the BBQing I hope to be doing. :)

I also got to check out one of my favourite stores to check out while in the states...

... I was good, and didn't buy anything, however I couldn't help but lust after the great products they had. Discounted MAC, Bobbi Brown, Origins, and even Flirt! Cosmetics. I was highly impressed. If I wasn't so overloaded with cosmetics and skincare, I definitely would've walked out with bags and bags of stuff! However, I was completely thrilled just to look around.

After we were at the outlets for a few hours, we headed back to our hotel and got ready for dinner. Mom has made reservations for somewhere we had never eaten before - P.F. Changs. I had always heard such great things about the chain, and was lucky enough to try it out.

I was so happy that we had made reservations, because the people there was a 2 hour wait time for anyone who didn't make reservations. The restaurant is attached to the mall, which was still busy at 6:30 pm, so the traffic in and out of the restaurant was crazy. I can understand why though. The food was amazing! It's definitely somewhere I would love to share with Marc, even if it isn't exactly traditional. :)

After dinner, I had the pleasure of going to the Sephora in the mall. As I looked around the store, the girls working were such a pleasure. Even after I let them know I was a fellow cast member, their store director made a point of coming to introduce herself to myself and Mom. We had a lovely conversation, and she was very kind to welcome me. I was very impressed with her and also, the store. It was definitely a great time.

The next morning, we headed to Wal-Mart to have a peek around.

Afterwards we headed back over to the Eastview Mall to look around before heading back towards Canada.

It was definitely a great way to spend my birthday, even though this trip was a few days early. I really needed to getaway for a few days, and having Mom as my travel companion was icing on the cake. We travel really well together, and I had a lot of laughs with her. I was really lucky to get that time, and I hope we get to do it again. I was surprised I didn't buy more, however I'm sure I'll find some great stuff when Marc and I head to Las Vegas next month.

For my actual birthday, which is tomorrow, I have a day to myself to relax and try not to feel older.  :)
